rendering large images

I have just read your tutorial on the Taliesin Mod.Fab and it is very inspirational, thank you. In the tutorial you stated that you rendered the image out at 6000px, I was wondering what your workflow for rendering such a large image is? And what render times you expected before you start rendering?

Renders was about 6/7 hours/frame on a single i7. Haven't use specific thing (such as backburner) I've launch it with a .bat file (You can read more about here)

When you launch a render, V-ray tells you an estimation of redering times so I'm using this to know if it's going to be too long or not.
